Meet Dorinda
“Being a part of the first days and weeks of a newborn’s life and supporting their family is such a special honor. I love seeing parents become more confident in their role as parents and help them get the rest and support in whatever way they need most.”
I love being included in those precious first weeks of families getting used to their newborn. Supporting families during this time and seeing their confidence grow every week is a great privilege to be a part of. I provide overnight doula support during the 4th trimester to provide families with hands-on support so they can rest, recover and learn how to best take care of their newborn.

How I Can Support Your Family
1. Practical Support
I can practically help parents get more sleep by taking over part of the night care of their newborn as well as some light tasks such as baby laundry, and bottle and pump cleaning. It nurtures the mother by taking over some of the tasks so she does not have to worry about those while recovering.
2. Informational Support
New parents seek lots of information. As a postpartum doula I provide non judgmental support and will help parents find their own parenting style and get comfortable caring for their baby in the way they choose. I try to always stay up to date with the latest information since recommendations keep changing and there is a lot of questionable information out there. I guide parents to find evidence based information so they can make good informed choices that work for their family.
3. Emotional Support
After a mother gives birth, processing all that happened is so vital. Sharing all those often mixed feelings of exhaustion, happiness, anxiety, joy, fear, insecurity, they can all come at the same time and be confusing. To share this with someone who has been there, who can listen to you, who understands and just sits with you, is vital. That, too, is part of my support.

Postpartum Items list
Often parents get lost in the HUGE lists found online of what parents supposedly need for their newborn.
This is the list I created, that has been tweaked and added to for years with all the experience I have had with all the different families of all the best items that are truly useful postpartum. Many parents called this list wonderful for preparing for their baby. The items are split in ‘must have items’, and ‘like to have items’ . That way you can add them to your registry, or buy what you think you need before baby is born or wait till postpartum to see if you will need it.
